Enhancing transport safety and accessibility in Tauranga

The Fraser Street and Kesteven Avenue Upgrades project involved extensive improvements to public transport and pedestrian infrastructure in Tauranga.

Crossroads Civil delivered a full suite of civil works, from drainage and pavements to lighting and landscaping, creating safer, more accessible, and better-connected streets for the local community.

Working in partnership with Tauranga City Council, the project required precise coordination, traffic management, and a strong focus on safety and public usability throughout construction.

  • Pavements & footpaths: Installation of concrete paths and pavement layers to improve pedestrian access.

  • Kerbs, channels & driveways: Reconstruction of kerbs, driveways, and stormwater channels.

  • Drainage & utility services: Upgraded underground stormwater, water, and communication systems.

  • Traffic services: Integration of traffic control structures and pedestrian safety features.

  • Street lighting: New lighting installed to improve night-time visibility and security.

  • Concrete works: Footpaths, kerbs, and traffic islands poured to precise engineering standards.

  • Landscaping: Topsoil, planting, and tree pit installations for a finished, community-friendly look.

  • Street infrastructure: Tactile pavers, pedestrian refuge islands, and new cabling for lighting systems.

Enhanced pedestrian crossings, upgraded bus stops, and improved lighting have significantly increased public safety and convenience, while modernised drainage and utility systems ensure long-term durability and compliance.
