Revitalising a key waterfront space in Tauranga

The Dive Crescent Carpark Upgrade was a large-scale redevelopment project in the heart of Tauranga’s waterfront district.

Crossroads Civil was responsible for delivering full site redevelopment, from demolition and earthworks to paving, lighting, and landscaping, transforming the area into a modern, accessible, and community-friendly public space.

Working alongside Tauranga City Council, the project demanded strong coordination across multiple civil and infrastructure elements to ensure quality, safety, and environmental compliance throughout the 18-month build.

Scope of Work

  • Site establishment & management: Site setup, safety planning, traffic management coordination, and environmental controls.

  • Demolition & site preparation: Removal of existing structures, surfaces, and vegetation; bulk earthworks and grading to final design levels.

  • Roadworks & paving: Raised crossings, concrete footpaths, tactile indicators, kerb and channel installation, and speed bumps.

  • Block walls: Construction of retaining and boundary structures.

  • Lighting installation: Enhanced visibility and public safety throughout the site.

  • Asphalting, line marking & signage: Final surfacing, road layout, and directional signage.

  • Hardscaping & landscaping: Placement of topsoil, mulch, river stones, and decorative features, plus site furniture including bins, bollards, and seating.

  • Infrastructure services: Installation of stormwater systems and upgrades to existing manholes, valve chambers, and hydrants.

Outcome

The Dive Crescent redevelopment successfully transformed an ageing carpark into a modern, functional, and visually enhanced waterfront facility.
The finished space now provides safer pedestrian access, improved traffic flow, and increased amenity for both locals and visitors, supporting Tauranga’s wider waterfront revitalisation plans.
